McHardy Lodge is nestled in a quiet residential cul de sac on Napier Hill, just a short drive from the restaurants and Art Deco centre of Napier city and Ahurriri and within walking distance for those visitors who are feeling slightly more energetic! The numerous wineries of Hawkes Bay are within easy reach and thereis a lively arts scene with a number of well known artists and excellent galleries.
Within easy walking distance are the famous Napier Botanical Gardens for the enjoyment of New Zealandís horticultural delights.
Marine Parade and the city centre with its numerous attractions are only a few minutes' drive away. Hot spa pools, the beach, and the National Aquarium of New Zealand are all within easy reach.
The views of the blue South Pacific Ocean and the Kaweka Ranges are outstanding from the gardens and poolside verandahs.
Napier airport is a 10 minute drive and we will be happy to arrange self-drive or chauffeured transport to and from McHardy Lodge and during your visit.
Getting to Napier
Regular flights operate from North and South Island centres to Napier Airport. It's approximately a 1 hour flight from Auckland or Wellington and 1.5 hours from Christchurch.
Arriving in Napier from the North or the Airport (turn right at exit), follow State Highway 50a until you reach the first roundabout. Turn left into Prebensen Drive.
*Continue driving until you reach the second roundabout and go straight ahead into Hyderabad Road. Keeping the base of Napier Hill on your immediate left, carry on until you come into Carlyle Street - through a 'Give Way' sign at the left of the traffic lights.
The second turn on the left is Chaucer Road (South), which turns sharply up the hill about half way up. Continue up this steep rise to the top. Turn left into Napier Terrace and then immediately right again into the continuation of Chaucer Road (North).
First on the right is George Street and Bracken Street is first on the right. You will see McHardy Lodge on the left.
Arriving from the South, follow the Northern Expressway (State Highway 50a) into the outskirts of Napier. Turn right into Prebensen Drive at the second large roundabout. Continue from * above.
